Mexican-American soprano Isabella Lara has trained professionally at the University of Bologna, the New England Conservatory of Music and in the following locations; Andorra, Florence, Rome, Naples,Vienna, Mexico City and New York City.
She has studied under the tutelage of world famous singers and musicians such as Mirella Freni, Montserrat Caballé, Licia Albanese, Julia Hamari, and Irwin Gage. Ms. Lara is a graduate of the Italian State Conservatory of Music of Salerno, where she obtained her opera degree with distinction in 2001.
Career highlights include Violetta in Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’ with Northwest Opera in Manchester, England, Musetta in Puccini’s ‘La Bohéme’ with the National Theatre of Serbia, Adina in Donizetti’s ‘L’Elisir D’Amore’ in Rome, and Tytania in Benjamin Britten’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
Along with her operatic and concert schedule, Isabella is a main cantor for the prestigious Basilica of Santo Spirito in Sassia in the Vatican City, Italy; a rare honor given to only a select few over the last decade. Her varied responsibilities there include singing in masses where Italian dignitaries are knighted (the Knights of Malta).
Ms. Lara performed solo concerts with orchestra in the summer of 2005 in her native Georgia (USA), Mexico City and Rome, Italy.
In January, 2006, she made her debut at Carnegie Hall Weill Hall in New York City as winner of the IBLA Foundation ¨Bellini¨ International Vocal Competition.
